When you hire someone to do a vertical overlay, they’ll use a mix and carving and/or stamps in order to craft your desired look. In order to ensure that the end result both looks good and lasts a long time, the wall mix itself needs to be high-quality. Even if you have a wonderful contractor, if the wall mix is poor quality, the vertical overlay won’t last very long.
The application process varies a bit depending on the contractor and the wall mix used. Wall mixes typically need primers and scratch coats. After these have been applied, the contractor will apply the wall mix and then carve, smooth, or stamp it in order to achieve the desired effect.
